The story
Karnataka's sericulture heritage and the establishment of organised silk production in Mysuru helped shape the modern Mysore Silk identity. The saree became associated with dependable silk quality and polished simplicity.
How it is made
Degummed silk yarn is dyed, prepared and woven into a smooth ground, usually allowing the colour and lustre to dominate. Borders and pallus may use zari, stripes or small motifs rather than dense all-over brocade.
Materials and character
Mulberry silk is central to the tradition. Authenticity and zari composition require reliable labelling or certification rather than visual judgement alone.

A Karnataka classic that demonstrates how exceptional yarn, colour and finish can create ceremony without heavy ornament.
