The story
Narayanpet's handloom identity reflects historic movement and exchange across the Deccan. Local weaving families developed sarees suited to daily and ceremonial wear, with strong colour contrasts and a restrained geometric language.
How it is made
Cotton or silk-cotton yarns are arranged into checked or striped grounds, then woven with contrasting borders and a banded pallu. Traditional production emphasises reliable structure and wearable weight.

Cotton, silk and silk-cotton combinations are used, sometimes with zari in the border. Fibre composition and handloom origin should be checked separately.
